Poland Spring, Maine is rich in history. An inn was started as early as 1794, and some kind of lodging has been present ever since. Poland Spring was put on the map with the discovery of the supposed healing properties of the waters from Poland Spring. Upon word of this miraculous water, travelers from around the world traveled to Poland Spring to become healed. In the late 1800's a 350 room resort hotel was constructed. The hotel was host to political, economical and entertainment giants.

After its heyday, the hotel began to to deteriorate and was used for different functions. The entire complex burned to the ground in 1977. The current Poland Spring Inn was built in mid 1980's.

Although not sold as a cure for what ails you, Poland Spring water is still bottled and is sold throughout the world.
