The 16 miles of Maine's US Route 1 between Whiting and Pembroke offers little but a scenic drive.

However about 4 ½ miles north of Whiting, a right turn onto S Edmunds Road will bring travelers to Cobscook Bay State Park , a quiet scenic ocean front camping area.

Other fine lodging is the Cobscook Bay B & B, also on S Edmunds Road about 2 miles further north.

Pembroke also serves little respite for the weary traveler.
