Maine Route 100 from Portland to Auburn sends travelers through three towns.

Although Cumberland Center is small, it does offer a couple of interesting stops. Also in September, the Cumberland Fair is always a treat. In August there is one of the largest craft fairs in the state at the Cumberland Fairgrounds.

Gray is the largest of the towns. The four main routes from town each lead to exciting destinations.

From the south ME Route 100 (aka Portland Road) coming in from Cumberland Center, allows visitors to stop into the Gray Plaza, which has a bank, food store, pizza shop and ice cream shop.

To the Southwest, ME Route 115 (West Gray Road) leads travelers to North Windham and points west.

Heading East from town is ME Route 115. Also known as Yarmouth Road takes visitors to Yarmouth and points along US Route 1.

Northwest is ME Route 26 (Shaker Road) is a well-traveled route through Poland Springs, South Paris and Bethel.

Finally ME Route 100 North (Lewiston Road) leads to New Gloucester and onto Auburn.

Even though the town proper of New Gloucester in near ME Route 100, ME Route 26 also passes through New Gloucester. It is on ME Route 26 that visitors will find the very interesting Shaker Village. It is not the practice of Maine Voyagers to recommend any one place over another, be we do highly recommend Hodgman's Frozen Custard on the Lewiston Road!
