Welcome to Bridgton, MaineAbout Bridgton, Maine One of the great things about Bridgton, is that it still has a working downtown Main Street. There are several shops and restaurants along Main Street that can be accessed on foot, once you park your car. Of course, after shopping, you may need to move your car closer to the stores so you needn't carry your packages too far. On the southern shore of Highland Lake, Bridgton was once home to several large manufacturers, which resulted in fairly large mansions for owners and managers, that still exist today. Several miles to the west of of downtown Bridgton, you'll find Pleasant Mountain and Shawnee Peak Ski Area. As you travel on US Route 302, look over the waters of Moose Pond and you can see why Shawnee Peak is also known as "The Love Mountain" as the ski trails spell out the word "Lov".
