Bethel is not only a four-season area, but it is also a gateway to the Northern end of the White Mountains via US Route 2 west. Travel west on ME Route 26 to enjoy a scenic drive through Grafton Notch State Park.

Twice Bethel has been the home of the world's largest snowman. In 1999 there was Angus, King of the Mountain (Angus King is a former governor of Maine) topping out at 113.7 feet. And in 2008 Olympia Snowwoman (Olympia Snow is one of Maine's US Senators) again beat the record with a height of 122.1 feet.
