Things to do in York, Maine
York, Maine begins the tourist portion of the southern Maine coast.The York area consists of York Village, York Harbor, York Beach and Cape Neddick.
The beaches are the main attraction here. There are three major beaches: Long Sands Beach is approximately 2 miles long. popular for surfing and volleyball tournaments are often played in the sand. Public restrooms are also available near the center. Metered parking is available along the side of the road. Short Sands Beach a mile further north. It is not as long, and has a sand bar and therefore for better sunbathing at high tide. York Harbor Beach is directly across the street from the York Harbor Inn. This is a more secluded beach that is close by and great for tide pooling. There is permit parking only on the access road during the summer. Cape Neddick Beach is located on the Shore Road. It is a secluded beach that is great for tide pooling. Limited permit parking only is allowed along the roadside from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
