Maine Voyagers: About Us
We love Maine. Its diverse four seasons, (sometimes nicknamed Mosquito, Foliage, Cold and Mud) give visitors plenty to visit and do.
We are year round residents. Born and raised, true Mainers (not Mainiacs as many people refer). We have driven, boated, hiked, camped in its mountains, lakes, forests and oceans. We have survived the cold of winters and the humidity of its summers. Enjoyed the splendors of autumn foliage and endured the mess of melting snow and thawing earth.
An earlier acquaintance once said, "If ya can't stand the wintahs, ya don't deserve the summahs!" But everyone's welcome anytime.
We love to travel and we have experienced other states and countries, but always look forward to returning home. We have ventured through most parts of this great state. Although we have driven about 90% of US Route 1 at various times, one of our plans is to drive from one end to the other.
Our goal with this site is to share ideas of places to eat, sleep, shop and visit. Our first focus is US Route 1, but plan to also include I-95, US 302, ME Route 26 and other interesting sites.
The name Maine Voyagers is actually in memory for a dear departed friend of ours, Mr. Emile Bourgoin, who for many decades operated a wilderness canoe guiding business aptly called “Maine Voyageurs”. The different spelling was tribute to his French Canadian heritage. It is to our friend that we dedicate this site.
